Dec 10,  · Novels about Spartacus seem to have become popular again, probably because of the recent TV series. Spartacus the gladiator is one of the good ones but it probably falls just short of "The Parthian", another recent read.

This book certainly has a more gritty Spartacus than the legendary Howard Fast novel but is let down by occasional weak dialogue/5(62).

I loved this book I really did. Spartacus the Gladiator is a brilliant retelling of a story Spartacus book all heard before, but can't seem to get enough of. The novel is rich in historical detail and the characters really come to life, they weren’t just words on a page.
